May 3 - Three Chimneys Farm - Redefining "Posh"

By now you all know that the Lexington area is all about Thoroughbreds and Bourbon. The horse farms in the area are indescribably spectacular. Perhaps, among the most amazing is Three Chimneys. This is the stud farm where Seattle Slew spent fourteen (14) years enjoying "the good life."

You don't just drop by the hallowed farms and have a look-see. No, if you're there, you live there, work there, are having a horse bred, have a very special invitation...or...are in handcuffs awaiting the the Kentucky Police. Of course, some have periodic guided tours, but for the most part, they're off-limits.

Today was a special day - Open House at Three Chimneys.

This place redefines the word, "posh." Heavens, we'd be overjoyed to live in any of the barns here. They house some pretty special residents. Take for example, Gunrunner - the top candidate for "Horse of the Year."

It's pretty impressive to see an animal with such a pedigree. Well, I guess he deserves the nice digs; he's earned them, not only for himself, but his bunk mates as well. Here then are some ideas for your next fixer-upper taken straight from the home of Gunrunner:

 Barn #2

 Barn #3

Barn #4

Hey, folks...I'm not kidding; these are barns where Gunrunner and the boys hang. I think they're planning an episode from "Cribs" to feature some of these incredible spaces. Liz and I have been contemplating what we want to do to the ceiling of our townhome. We got some spectacular ides from Gunrunner's pad. Unfortunately, we don't think we can afford his decorator. Here's a look:

 Vaulted ceiling anyone?

I guess Gunrunner deserves a nice view if he chooses to look up!

Gunrunner is just one of several high-brow residents at Three Chimneys. Here's some shots of a couple of his pals.

This huge gorgeous dude is: Will Take Charge - He's 17 hands high

Can you guess if this horse is male or female??

Sorry...gotta run...they're filming a C&W music video here at Fink Farm tomorrow. Life's good!!

Stay tuned...

  1. I'll take Door #3 for my Barndominium. Throw Gunrunner in too and my retirement is set. You kids have fun and be safe.
