Aug 13-17 - Heather on Earth

Continuing in the spirit of vacation visitation...enter the pleasurable parade of Pearts. Graeme, Angela and Heather have stormed Steamboat. Many fear that "The Boat" may never be the same.

Waiting for a Steamboat sundown on Hwy 129

Graeme, Angela and Heather came to stay after an auto jaunt to Colorado Springs to check out some potential intern opportunities for Heather. If you know Graeme at all, you realize that he is an adult study in high energy. Surprisingly, we old folks encouraged him to chill out a bit during their stay here in the Boat.

Our list of activities ranged from heavenly happy hour/dinners by the Yampa River to jeep jaunts; rousing, combative evening game time; lots of exploration and loads of laughs. Never having had daughters, Liz and I have a new adopted one in Heather. Fortunately, we have been here to rescue her from Graeme's cajoling. As I write he has her up in the mountains for a five-mile hike. Actually, she was raring to go after just a couple hours of coaxing her out of bed.

Follow me, Heather...we're headed for the twisty  bits

See there, Bubba...told you this would be awesome!

Truly...it's awesome watching Graeme and Heather interact. He's a terrific father and really enjoys spending time with his girls.

While Graeme and Heather are tearing up the mountain trails. Liz, Angela and I tore up the sock shop in down town Steamboat. Angela had the owner rolling in the aisles before we bid him adieux. Graeme's bank account was also a bit lighter as was the storekeeper's inventory.

Graeme, like yours truly, is a bit of a shutterbug. Our high country adventures have been photo shootouts with corroboration regarding post production techniques. Hereafter are a few of our joint efforts:

Jeep rental for a day...Jethro was crushed!!

Steamboat late evening

Who says and Audi SUV can't tackle the high stuff?

Graeme's definition of high country: "Eternal spring"

Picnic spot between Phippsburg and Meeker off CR-8

After a fun night of post production a photo entitled...get this..."Flower"

Stay tuned...we ain't done with 'em yet...

  1. Thanks to Liz & Len for being great hosts. With them working at retirement I don't know how they have the time to do all the stuff they do.
