Sep 06 - Jethro Be Havin' New Shoes

Yeah, folks...in just 40K, Jethro wore out his sneakers. Of course, when he got his new ones, he just had to run out and get 'em dirty. Boys will be boys, I suppose.

The good news is, he invited us along and we trekked some nifty new high country roads. This time we headed from Hamilton (Colorado, that is) to Oak Creek. This jaunt is just a bit north of the trip from Phippsburg to Meeker which is also a favorite. We're hoping to see some change in the Aspens before we have to depart in just ten days. In the meantime, the high desert wildflowers (best I can tell, they're called Brittle Bush) are all abloom. It really brightens up a high country off-load trip as you'll see below.

Jethro is quite the "Man About Town." The other day I was in the music store, of all places. A fella inside said;

"Is that your Jeep? I've been seeing it around town all summer. Jethro, isn't it?"

Me: "Yep!"

"What's that all about? Is that his name?"

Me: "Yep!"

"How cool is that...great color...and I love the wheels. You guys have fun and stay out of trouble!"

Me: "Yep!"

The weather is great; typically in the 40's when we awake and then warming to the 70's. I'm sure that's quite similar to what's happening in Carrollton about now. Hurrumph...but, I digress.

The good folks at Discount Tire had some new sneakers for Jethro in just his size...

...he just couldn't wait to break 'em in.

I think these guys are called Brittle Bush. Whatever they are, they sure add some flair!

Gorgeous day...yet it turned into a thunder-sprinkle by the time we arrived back home.

This may be our new preferred kinda road: high, gravel and scenic - Jeep stuff, dontchasee?

Throw in a nice river, creek or stream and it makes for a natural delight!

The roads around Steamboat are all quite scenic. I think the thing that captures our interest most is the pastoral feel of the area surrounding the Yampa Valley. In its on way, it's kinda reminiscent of Kentucky. While the two areas are vastly different, I think it's the abundance of green, grassy areas and manicured farms and ranches around these here parts that just sucks you in. Oh well, to each his/her own. Hope you're having a perfect day wherever you are.

Stay tuned...
